October 10th is Global PT Day of Service!
APTA North Carolina’s Inclusive Excellence committee has organized local service activities to
foster service and outreach during the Annual Conference in the local High Point community.
You can learn more about the various volunteer opportunities and sign up below:
Friday, October 9th: Student Outreach –
Participate in a presentation about the field of physical therapy, inspiring future PTs and PTAs at local schools.

Friday, October 9th: Volunteer at High Point University’s Pro-Bono Clinic Garden –
Volunteers will assist with garden clean up.

Saturday, October 10th: Serve with Open Door Ministries:
Volunteers will assist in the kitchen with breakfast service (prep, serving, and cleaning tasks) in support of this local non-profit organization
whose vision is to alleviate the impact of homelessness and hunger.
Spaces are limited and sign-up will close on Tuesday, October 6th.

Student SIG PageAPPLICATIONS WILL OPEN SOON to elect new members to our APTA North Carolina Student SIG Board. Applications for available open offices will close on September 11th, 2026, at 11:59 pm. We look forward to seeing many applications from great emerging leaders!
2026 Meaningful Mentorship Program (MMP) [Deadline November 14, 2026]
Learn more. . .The need for mentorship always come up as does the desire to serve as a mentor! Our Chapter's Early Professionals Special Interest Group put those two things together and. . . Eureka!
The 2026 mentorship matches are underway right now; however, we are updating our timeframe moving forward.
We are opening the window for registering as a MENTOR or as a MENTEE right now for 2027! Registration closes in November. But why not sign up now for next year??
2026 Community Impact Challenge (CIC) [Deadline November 14, 2026]
Learn more. . .Our DEI Committee has rolled out three iterations of the CIC, $1500 grants to PT/PTA students or PT/PTA clinicians to initiate a solution for a need in your community.
While the 2026 awardees will be receiving their grants to start their projects soon, we are updating next year's CIC timeline to open the submission window now to close in December, to receive grants next January.

We have six different student scholarships that are available to all PTA or PT students. We even have one scholarship for PTA students alone!

Learn more. . .Our Poster Chair of the Conference Committee is welcoming both Research Abstracts and Case Report Abstracts for peer-reviewed selection to present at the APTA NC Annual Conference in October.
Nominations for Elections [Deadline was August 28, 2026]
Learn more . . .Consider nominating yourself to run for an elected position. The Chapter holds its annual election in the last two weeks of October and winners start their service the following January.
