The Chair of this committee is an appointed volunteer who works with a committee of 2-3 other volunteers to solicit, review, vet, and prioritize awards nominations between February and July. The Chair works with the Annual Conference Committee to prepare the Awards Ceremony.

The Annual Conference Committee is chaired by the Education Director, Jackie Polk, who works closely with the Executive Director and admin support, along with volunteer leaders who manage Education Programming, Research Posters & Platforms, and Exhibitors & Sponsors. This is our biggest event of the year and we'd love to have you join us.

The DEI Committee seeks to integrate the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout APTA North Carolina’s work and activities. Additionally, the committee seeks to promote these values to external stakeholders to 1) increase awareness of physical therapy as a profession for NC citizens in economic and educationally disadvantaged parts of the state and those of minority backgrounds, and 2) increase messaging to citizens in economic and educationally disadvantaged parts of our state about physical therapy as a choice for care.
The current chair is Deidra Charity and Holden Cox is the Vice Chair. DEI Committee members are Tiffany Adams, Lynnz Brewer, LaTanis Dickens, Judy Foxworth, Gary Johnson, Cipryana Mack, Jerri Shepard, and Justin Wilson.
This committee is one of three standing committees described in the ByLaws and is chaired by the Treasurer, Erik Carvalho. Several appointed volunteers work with the Treasurer budgeting, auditing, and questions outside Standard Operating Procedures. If you would be interested in running to be the Chapter Treasurer someday, please consider joining the Finance Committee. Or, Finance Committee members do not need to go on to become a Board Member.

Section 3. Finance Comm
a) The Fin Com will be chaired by the elected Chapter Treasurer. The Chair shall recommend 4 members in good standing to the BoD for approval to serve on the Finance Committee.
b) Members shall serve 4-year terms or until successors are appointed. The term of a member shall expire each year.
c) Vacancies on this Committee shall be filled by appointment by the Chapter BoD.
d) This Committee, in addition to duties otherwise directed by BoD, shall:
e) Audit the Chapter’s financial reports annually.
f) Review and advise on Chapter financial performance in comparison to budget.
g) Review and advise on Chapter investments.
h) Develop, in conjunction with the Treasurer, an annual budget for approval by the BoD.
i) Review and advise on Chapter fiscal policy and procedures and other fiscal matters.
j) Review and advise on fiscal applications of proposed or adopted Chapter projects.
k) Provide long-term financial planning for the Chapter.

The Legislative Committee is chaired by an appointed volunteer who liaises with the Board President. The committee works with three to five member-volunteers and is currently chaired by Ginger Garner
Our Chapter-appointed Federal Affairs Liaison (FAL) is Lance Mabry who leads a group of key contacts. Additional key contacts are needed for all of our North Carolina Congressional Legislators.
This committee is chaired by the Membership Director, currently Christopher Green, and is made up of the four Assistant Regional Directors and two to four other volunteers. This committee works to keep members informed about their benefits and opportunities and to education potential members about what they're missing!
This committee is one of three standing committees described in our ByLaws. This committee is extremely important to finding, recruiting, educating members on the place they best fit for their interests. This committee recruits, plans, advertises, and executes monthly live webinars. This committee is chaired by Wendy Viviers, an appointed volunteer who liaises with the Education Director. The Student Scholarship Committee Chair, Cheyenne Gasper, is an appointed volunteer who liaises with the Board Vice President and works with two other volunteers. Every year between February and July, they solicit, review, vet, and prioritize student scholarships. They actively initiate fund-raising for the Chapter to support annual student scholarships. This committee is one of three standing committees described in our ByLaws.
